~2008~

One day I'll organize all of my photos and web applications and use this site as a starting point... for now have a peek at my posts below. BTW, I'll be filling in here and there and adding posts in chronological order (newest to oldest) for this year, so check back often and be sure to scroll to the end each time. ~~~ ;)

(12/29/08) Well this site is pretty much the same as it was a year ago. I think I spent more time playing than working this year, though I did a good bit of work too. Like any year, it's been filled with its share of up's and down's, but overall it was a great year and definitely better than many years past. I'll probably create a new page shortly for 2009 and try to add some missing pictures and events from 2008 below. Happy new year everyone!

(12/11/08) Snow day in New Orleans (...Mandeville) - It's rare to see snow down here and it's been several years since the last time we even had flurries. We've never had this much snow, let alone this early, ever! This is also the first time it didn't all disappear in a matter of hours. There was still several inches of snow on the ground throughout the following day.

(08/25/08) Tune and lyrics recently added to my favs... The Raconteurs - Many Shades of Black from the album Consolers Of The Lonely

"Go ahead, Go ahead
And smash it on the floor
Take whatevers left
And take it with you out the door

See if I cry
See if I shed a single sorry tear
I can’t say that it’s been that great
No, in fact it’s been a wasted worried year

Everybody sees
And everyone agrees
That you and I are wrong
And it’s been that way too long

Take it as it comes
And be thankful when its done
Theres so many ways to act
And theres many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black

Let it out (let it all out) let it all out
Say whats on your mind
You can kick and scream
And shout and say things
That are so unkind.

Yeah, see if I care
And see if I stand firm or if I fall
Cause in the back of my mind
And on the tip of my tongue
Is the answer to it all
And everybody sees
And everyone agrees
That you and I are wrong
And its been that way too long

Take it as it comes
And be thankful when its done
Theres so many ways to act
And theres many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black
Yeah, theres many shades of black

Yeah, everybody sees
And everyone agrees
That you and I are wrong
And its been that way too long

So take it as it comes
And be thankful when its done
Theres so many ways to act
And you cannot take it back
No you cannot take it back
Theres so many shades of black,
Theres so many shades of black,
Yeah, there’s many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black
Yeah, there’s many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black
Yeah, there’s many shades of black
Theres so many shades of black

Oh yeah... "

(07/28/08) Here's a cool little ASP/DHTML/Ajax photo application I threw together yesterday with some of the photos I've taken this year. Move your cursor over the lower or upper thumbnail images to scroll. Click thumbnail image to view larger image on the right.

(07/6/08) Here are a few pictures of the Top Cats from last night's performance at the Mandeville Seafood Festival.

BTW, the soft shell crabs on a stick are killer!

(07/3/08) Earlier tonight we headed out to the Summer of Love 40th Anniversary Concert featuring Jefferson Starship, Big Brother & The Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, It's a Beautiful Day, and the JJ Muggler Band with Jo Jo Billingsley (of Leonard Skynard).

The first picture is of The Holding Company which was one of the best live performances I've seen in a long time. The other two are of Jefferson Starship.

(06/10/08) Last night I finally made it to a concert at Red Rocks, which is now by far the coolest and prettiest place I've ever been to see a concert. Brandi Carlile opened for Sheryl Crow. Here's a picture of them singing together toward the end of Sheryl's set. I fly home tomorrow. Sheryl Crow and Brandie Carlile

(06/8/08) This evening we went to The Hudson Gardens to see "Colorado's own First Lady of Soul and Queen of the Blues" Hazel Miller. She's no Irma Thomas, but the event (picnic style) and the company were a lot of fun.

(05/10/08) This evening we went to Pontchartrain Vineyards for a wine picnic where we saw Ann Savoy & Her Sleepless Knights perform during Jazz'n the Vines.

"The 3 concerts in May begin with chanteuse Ann Savoy & Her Sleepless Knights on May 10. Ann, part of the musically rich Savoy family of Eunice, Louisiana, will be performing songs from the world of cabaret accompanied by her ensemble of acoustic jazz musicians. Anticipate an evening of sophisticated jazz more or less inspired by the likes of Django Reinhardt, Marco Cappelli, and other European "Gypsy" jazz artists."

(05/10/08) We flew back to New Orleans on the 15th of April, then made a mad dash to the post office to mail my taxes at the last minute that I had finished in February.

May 3rd, after the bad weather cleared, we went to The Abita Springs Crawfish Festival where we saw a few local bands and ran into a few friends.

We had planned to go to The New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival a few times, but it rained both weekends. Fortunately for us, the last day, May 4th, was gorgeous and we made it to see Santana, The Derrick Trucks Band, Ivan Neville's Dumpstafunk, Keb Mo, and a few others.

We'll be flying back to Colorado on the 13th.

(04/7/08) Today I went to Lincoln's Road House in Denver in search of hearing a good blues band and having some home style food. They have a small New Orleans menu. The shrimp po-boy I had was pretty good and their tequila selection wasn't bad either. The bartenders were very friendly and the service was great. It's nice when a bartender addresses you by name. Thanks Lance. Unfortunately a good blues band wasn't on the venue today... instead, they had a honky tonk band ...bleah! But, I'll definitely go back... it could be my little Ruby's away from home. (04/05/08) I headed back to Colorado on March 10th, came home for Easter and crawfish on the night of the 22nd, and went back to Colorado on the 25th. I plan to go home on April 15th for at least a couple of weeks. Last week we went to a little bowling alley beneath the street in Lakewood. I sucked at bowling, but had a great time and they had Herradura! I still haven't been snow boarding, but it's possible I'll finally get my chance to go this week. I'll keep you posted ;) Crawfish boil Bowling alley

(02/16/08) OK, so my trip to Colorado lasted a bit longer than anticipated. I made it to Denver on the 19th of January. On the 3rd of February I left from Denver to Cozumel and returned to Denver on the 10th. I came back to Mandeville on the 12th. I'll try to post some pics soon. (12/29/07) Seems like this web site's been like this forever (probably because it has been ;). Unfortunately it gets the least of my attention since I'm usually working on the12volt.com or creating new applications for someone else. Hopefully sooner than later I'll have a complete list of my work with thumbnails and descriptions on this site, but for now you can check out the short unorganized list below. ...who knows, maybe I'll get something done this January after my trips to Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Cozumel and Colorado.
